Draggin' Main to return to Paxton on Saturday

PAXTON — With the high temperature hovering around 50 degrees in the forecast for Saturday, Debi Chapman-Hermann is not expecting Mother Nature to ruin the annual return of Paxton’s tradition of “Draggin’ Main.”

Not that a little rain or snow could keep people away anyway.


Chamber's quarterly luncheon to feature talk by Relay for Life volunteer

PAXTON — The Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly luncheon, scheduled for noon Wednesday, May 22, will feature a presentation by Craig Loschen of Flipswitch Consulting and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser.

The catered lunch will be made and served by the Paxton Woman’s Club.


Christ Lutheran sponsoring blood drive Thursday

BUCKLEY — An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Christ Lutheran High School, 201 W. Lincoln St., Buckley.

For more information, or to arrange for an appointment, call the school at 394-2547. Persons who last donated on or before Jan. 24 may be eligible to donate.

Tim Cavanagh to speak to Gibson Chamber. The Gibson Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, at the Kruse Center in Gibson City. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, followed by dinner at 6:30, presentation of the Citizen of the Year and Junior Citizen of the Year at 7:15 and entertainment beginning at 7:45.

PIT Crew to host Family Fun Night. Clara Peterson Elementary School’s Parent Involvement Team (PIT Crew) will sponsor Family Fun Night on Thursday, Feb. 28. The event is for local elementary students and their families. As part of the event, participants can visit “Earth’s Wild Ride,” a mobile domed digital theater system.


Harvest Moon hits goal to stay open

GIBSON CITY — The show will go on at the Harvest Moon Twin Drive-in this spring.

Harvest Moon owner Mike Harroun said a $10,000 donation received Tuesday from Neal Tire in Gibson City allowed the drive-in to meet its overall $165,000 fund raising goal.

The money will allow the drive-in to buy digital projectors necessary for the facility to present films this spring.
