PAXTON — A relative newcomer to the Kempton area complained Monday night to the Ford County Board about how the nearby Kelly Creek Wind Farm has caused him difficulty in receiving channels via antenna on his television.

PAXTON — Ford County Board members will meet on the next two Thursdays to continue their work on revising the county’s ordinance regulating wind farms.

Paxton eyes giving incentives for building on vacant lots

PAXTON — The Paxton City Council discussed some ideas during its meeting last Tuesday for providing incentives for people to build homes on vacant lots in town.

The discussion will continue at a future meeting and may include enrolling in a tax-credit program run through the Internal Revenue Service.

Informational meeting to be set for proposed swine facility near Sibley

PAXTON — The Ford County Board will ask the Illinois Department of Agriculture to conduct an informational hearing on a proposed swine facility to be built west of Sibley.

Phillip Hartman of Sibley last month completed an application to the department for a “2,240-animal-unit swine facility” that he wants to build about 1 1/2 miles west of Sibley.

PAXTON — For the second year in a row, the Ford County Board welcomed and recognized the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School football team for winning a state championship.

PAXTON — The Ford County Board has a new chairman.

During its reorganizational meeting Monday night, the board unanimously elected long-serving board member Bob Lindgren  of rural Loda as its chairman for the next two years.

PAXTON — The Ford County Board will decide early next month what amendments will be made to the county’s ordinance regulating wind farms and when the county’s moratorium on the permitting of additional wind farms will be lifted.

Limits on public comments to see vote next month

PAXTON — It will be next month before the Ford County Board formalizes its public comments policy.

On Monday night, the board defeated a resolution that would have limited individual public comments to three minutes apiece with a maximum public comment period of 30 minutes.

County board to be provided with reports on delinquent fines collected by court

PAXTON — Ford County Circuit Clerk Kim Evans will provide the county board with a written report summarizing the delinquent court fees and fines collected by Credit Collection Partners each month.
