PBL baseball wins 13-3 over Milford in six innings

MILFORD -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda baseball team won 13-3 over Milford on Monday.
 
The Panthers scored two runs in the fourth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit.

PBL softball loses 8-4 to Milford

MILFORD -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda softball team lost 8-4 to Milford on Saturday.
 
Baylee Cosgrove hit 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for PBL (1-5) while Jaden Bender hit 3-for-3 and Sindra Gerdes hit 2-for-4.
 
On the mound, Emma Steiner struck out four batters and walked four while yielding eight runs -- three earned -- on eight hits

Brooks Bombers, Blue Chippers win Paxton Park District basketball championships

PAXTON -- In the finals of Paxton Park District’s Recreational League Basketball championship, the Brooks Bombers defeated Paxton IGA/Monical’s 79-63.  
 
Brooks Bombers (11-1) extended its 16-10 first quarter lead with a dominating seconnd quarter to take a 45-21 score into halftime.

Andrew Zenner -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda baseball standout picked up a save for John A. Logan College in a 6-4 win Tuesday, March 19, over Columbia State, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts through two innings pitched.

PBL softball loses to Marshall, Tuscola

TUSCOLA -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda softball team lost 7-6 in extra innings to Marshall on Saturday.
 
The Panthers led 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning before Marshall tied the game with two runs and scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning.
 
In the top of the sixth inning, PBL (1-4) scored three runs to overcome a 4-3

GCMS baseball sweeps doubleheader over Cissna Park

CISSNA PARK -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley baseball team swept a Saturday doubleheader against Cissna Park.
 
In game one, GCMS won 13-5.
 
In the first inning, Layne Harden tripled before scoring on a Nathan Garard groundout to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

GCMS's Delanie Dykes, Aidan Laughery earn first-place medals at Illinois Prep Top Times Meet

BLOOMINGTON -- Delanie Dykes of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School girls track and field team finished first in the 400-meter dash at the Illinois Prep Top Times Meet on Friday.
 
Dykes finished first in the girls' 1A 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.7.
 
Dykes also finished second in the girls' 1A 400-meter race with a time of 1:00.62

PBL softball wins 12-2 over Armstrong-Potomac

POTOMAC -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda softball team earned its first victory of the season via a 12-2 score Friday over Armstrong-Potomac.
 
The Panthers gained a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Lorena Arnett reached base on a bunt single before scoring on a Baylee Cosgrove groundout.
 
In the fifth inning, PBL scored seven runs to overcome a 2-1

PBL JV baseball defeats Prairie Central 11-1

PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior varsity baseball team won 11-1 Thursday over Prairie Central.
 
Jarred Gronsky and Mason Bruns combined to pitch a one-hitter for PBL.

PBL JV softball defeats LeRoy 21-11

PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior varsity softball team won 21-11 Thursday over LeRoy.
 
Lorena Arnett, Kayla Adwell and Kelbie Hayden each hit 4-for-5 for PBL.
