Booster Club’s Cash Bash set for Oct. 29

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Booster Club is holding it annual Cash Bash on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Shooky’s  Bar in Paxton.

Christ Lutheran volleyball squeaks by Tri-Point

The Christ Lutheran volleyball has won two of its past three matches, moving its record to 5-14 on the season.

The Crusaders beat Tri-Point, 27-25, 27-25 on Monday at home. Olivia Janssen led the way with five kills and 12 digs. Billie Lohrbach added three aces.

On Friday, Christ Lutheran suffered a 25-23, 25-12 home loss against Decatur LSA on Friday.

Seniors fall to PC Blue in playoff quarterfinals

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Seniors youth football team’s season came to a close with a 20-11 loss to Prairie Central Blue in the quarterfinals of the postseason on Saturday.

Sizemore leads GCMS/Fisher soccer

Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley soccer striker Jordan Sizemore scored five goals last Thursday as his team breezed past Watseka, 7-0 in Fisher.

Hunter Lowry and Jared Clark each added a goal for F/GCMS, which received a shutout from goalie Darren Eckerty, who had three saves.

8th-grade Panthers girls' basketball off to unbeaten start

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda eighth-grade girls’ basketball team opened the season with four consecutive wins.

On Sept. 22, PBL topped St. Malachy, 32-17, on the road in Rantoul. The Panthers were led by Kellyn Maynard’s 16 points.

PBL Juniors use stout defense to advance in postseason

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Juniors youth football team earned a 28-0 win against Iroquois West in the opening round of the playoffs on Saturday in Clifton.

Christian King capped the first scoring drive with an eight-yard touchdown run that was set up by his own 40-yard scamper.

PBL volleyball improves to 11-6

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda varsity volleyball team moved to 11-6 on the season after a 25-21, 28-26 win against Fisher on Monday night in Paxton. PBL trailed 24-22 in the second set before feeling off six of the next eight points to take the match.

Back-to-back kills by junior Kortnie Schroeder and sophomore Kailey Kleinert were the winning points for the Panthers.

Defense carrying Seniors, Mighty Mites into playoffs

For the first time all season, the Paxton-Buckley-Loda youth football Mighty Mites didn’t win on Saturday. But they still managed to maintain their unbeaten record with an 8-8 tie against Clifton on the road.

Crusaders struggle in Reed-Custer Invite, are excited for conference play to start

The Christ Lutheran volleyball team is dropped four matches on Saturday at the Reed-Custer Invitational. With the losses, the Crusaders fell to 3-12.
