HEYWORTH — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley had four players score in double-figures en route to a 69-46 road win over Heyworth on Monday night.
The Falcons jumped out to an early 14-0 lead before Heyworth rebounded to get as close as two (18-16).

GCMS boys basketball wins 67-47 in HOIC opener over Flanagan-Cornell

FLANAGAN -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley boys basketball team did not show much rust in the early-minutes of Friday’s 67-47 win over Flanagan-Cornell. 
Seven days after 70 percent of the basketball team hoisted the Class 2A football state championship trophy on the turf in DeKalb, the Falcons found a rhythm in the gym.

GCMS football claims Class 2A state championship with 38-32 win over Maroa-Forsyth

DEKALB — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley outlasted perennial powerhouse Maroa-Forsyth, 38-32, to bring home its first state championship in school history on Friday afternoon at Huskie Stadium.
While it was senior Mitch McNutt who carried the offense (32 carries for 139 yards) for the majority of the contest, the game-winning play came through the air.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley did not have to play a full four quarters in many games this season.

On Saturday, the Falcons owned the fourth quarter and upset Sterling Newman 14-8 to advance to the Class 2A state championship game for the first time in school history.

GCMS football advances to IHSA Class 2A semifinals with 42-7 win over El Paso-Gridley

GIBSON CITY — GCMS came back home and found its groove, as the Falcons cruised past El Paso-Gridley, 42-7, in Class 2A quarterfinal action.
The same recipe that got GCMS (12-0) into next week’s semifinal against Sterling Newman sent the Falcons to the locker room up 42-0 at halftime.

SAVANNA — GCMS failed to score on its opening possession for the first time all season in Saturday’s second-round Class 2A playoff game at West Carroll. 
While it took longer than usual for Falcons offense to gain traction on a overcast and damp afternoon, GCMS escaped northwest Illinois with a 24-6 win to advance to the quarterfinals.

GIBSON CITY -- The Falcons continued its dominance during their first-round victory over Eastland-Pearl City, winning 50-14 on Saturday afternoon.
