Veterans invited to Wednesday event in Gibson City

GIBSON CITY — The Gibson City Rotary Club is looking for a few good men — and women.

The civic organization plans to honor local veterans at their next meeting, to be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 9, at The Sand Trap in Gibson City.

Gibson City Lions Club to raffle off golf cart

GIBSON CITY — The Gibson City Lions Club is hoping to improve its community through a pair of fund-raisers to be finalized in the weeks ahead.

The Lions are not only promoting their annual major fundraiser — a pancake and sausage breakfast — but they are providing an opportunity for someone to claim a golf cart, as well, as part of a second fundraiser.


GCMS bond resolution up for vote on Jan. 28

GIBSON CITY — The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school board has set a special public meeting for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, for the purpose of adopting a $1 million bond resolution.

The board held a public hearing Thursday concerning the sale of working cash fund bonds “as an alternative to referendums and cutting more expenses,” said board Vice President Phil Whitehouse.


Rotary district governor impressed by new playground in Gibson City

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City Rotarians got a chance to show off their new playground area in Gibson City’s North Park to Rotary District Governor Surinder Sethi on Sept. 7, after the organization leader spoke to members of the club at Railside Golf Club.
