Rural Ludlow woman to appear on 'Wheel of Fortune'

CULVER CITY, Calif. — Brenna Schluter has a word of advice for people who are considering becoming a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune.” They might want to start working out.

“The wheel, it is heavy,” said Schluter, who will be a contestant on the show at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, on WAND. “They give you spinning lessons ahead of the show.”

PAXTON — “American Pickers” co-star Frank Fritz was greeted by a bevy of fans Saturday in downtown Paxton as he stepped out of the driver’s seat of a van splattered with Workshop Hero advertising.

Wearing tinted shades and a black Workshop Hero T-shirt, Fritz stood for a moment on the street in front of Robin McNish’s antique shops.


Huge event planned to welcome Frank Fritz to Paxton

PAXTON — Paxton antique dealer Robin McNish and “American Pickers” co-star Frank Fritz will hunt for “rusty gold” on Saturday at two undisclosed properties north of Paxton. With barns and sheds full of vintage signs, gas pumps and “boxes and boxes of old antique stuff,” McNish said she is sure that Fritz will enjoy this “pick.”

Surely, “American Pickers” co-star Mike Wolfe would, too.


Frank Fritz Day to be celebrated Sept. 27 in Paxton

PAXTON — Frank Fritz Day is set for Saturday, Sept. 27, in downtown Paxton. The event celebrates “American Pickers” co-star Frank Fritz’s visit to Paxton.

Local antique dealer Robin McNish won the “Pick with Frank Fritz” contest last November, and Fritz is coming to Paxton to go antique hunting with McNish on the morning of Sept. 27.

Foosland man appears on 'Rachael Ray Show' Tuesday

FOOSLAND — Dave Rueck  of Foosland went to Lou Henson’s basketball camp when Rueck was a young man.

It was for tips on how to play the game, not how to do a combover.

Henson is famous for his Lou-’Do combover haircut. Rueck was, too, to a lesser degree. But he and his family didn’t necessarily like it.

So he went on national TV to do something about it.


Mediacom digital upgrade proceeding smoothly

PONTIAC — Mediacom Communications announced that its digital upgrade is proceeding smoothly and the next step will be to remove most analog signal reception on Tuesday, July 23.

Mediacom also made public its list of 40 new high-definition (HD) channels to be added in early August to boost the number of available HD viewing choices above the 100-channel mark.


"American Pickers" viewing party set for Monday in Gibson City

GIBSON CITY — A viewing party for Monday’s episode of “American Pickers,” featuring Gibson City resident Ray Leisure and his collection of antiques, will be held at the American Legion Hall in Gibson City.
