GIBSON CITY — Sometimes it can be hard to get all your shopping done at one place.

If, say, your shopping list includes:

— a few classic cars in different states of repair;

— a leather-strapped prosthetic limb;

— a complete telephone switchboard from the days before dials;

— cigarette knick-knacks;

— two telephone booths;

— chain saws;


Gibson City man to be featured on "American Pickers" on May 27

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City resident Ray Leisure and his collection of antiques will be featured in an episode of “American Pickers” that is scheduled to premiere May 27 on the History Channel, the show’s producers said this week.

The show filmed a segment at Leisure’s home on South Church Street in September, after the show put out a call for candidates in August.


Gibson City man gets visit from TV show

GIBSON CITY — Ray “Beetle” Leisure kept apologizing to the stars of "American Pickers" as they dug through disorganized piles of antiques in Leisure’s sheds and garages on South Church Street in Gibson City.

But Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz — two of the most skilled pickers in the antique business — apparently didn’t mind the dirty work.

LONDON — From a lack of spectators to a lack of collectibles, the Olympics in London don’t seem to compare with the 2008 Games held in Beijing, China.


Mohawk Man's reality TV show to hold filming session Friday in Rantoul

RANTOUL — The man known only as Mowhawk Man will be the subject of a television reality show, and a filming session will take place Friday night in Rantoul.

Mowhawk Man, who resides in the Ludlow area, is dedicated to helping the nation’s military.

A film crew will be filming his birthday bash from 5 to 10 p.m. at T&T Tavern, 101 N. Century Blvd.
