Old Paxton building's second floor sees new life

PAXTON — Of the 40 or so people who toured the newly renovated second floor of Ford County’s oldest commercial building on Thursday, not one of them had to duck when walking up the stairs leading to it.

The removal of a low-lying wooden beam that made navigating the stairs a bit tricky in the past was one of the first improvements they must have noticed.

Villas of Holly Brook sets community forums in Gibson City

GIBSON CITY — Community forums regarding the Villas of Holly Brook assisted-living facility planned for Gibson City’s north side will be held Oct. 14 and Oct. 29 at the Moyer District Library in Gibson City. The forums will be held at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

The forums are being held for people to get more information about the facility.

GIBSON CITY — City council members unanimously approved four ordinances Monday that set the final stage for an assisted-living facility to begin construction on Gibson City’s north edge.

GIBSON CITY — City council members endorsed a resolution to extend the city’s second tax incrementing financing (TIF) district for 12 more years.

Mayor Dan Dickey said it will now be up to other taxing bodies to concur before an ordinance making the extension official is brought before the council at a future meeting.
