Elliott’s cafe now open again, featuring some evening hours

ELLIOTT — A new family group has re-opened the cafe on Main Street in Elliott, and they held a grand opening Wednesday.

Little Chef Diner closed permanently

PAXTON — Open less than a year, the Little Chef Diner in Paxton has closed its doors permanently, leaving the restaurant building that once housed a Pizza Hut vacant yet again.

It was the second diner to occupy the red-roofed building at 560 John St. east of Interstate 57 since the Pizza Hut closed Dec. 31, 2016.

Rankin pub's hours extended by village board

RANKIN — The Rankin Village Board last week approved allowing Rankin Rangers Pub and Grub to extend its hours of operation on Sundays.

The bar-and-grill will now be able to open at noon — one hour earlier than it had been — and remain open until midnight — one hour later than it had been.

Peggy Sue's opens in Buckley

BUCKLEY — Whether they are attending a Sunday service at St. John’s Lutheran Church or at a Buckley Village Board meeting, Peggy Shockley and Sue Stachura are constantly being asked when their diner/bakery will finally open.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City Council members unanimously approved an ordinance regulating mobile food trucks Monday night.

ELLIOTT — Regular diners might have noticed that the Bluefish Cafe in Elliott has been closed much of the last couple weeks. They might have also heard rumors that the longtime Elliott gathering spot is going out of business.

Not so, according to owner Angie Rouley.

PAXTON — A new diner opened recently in a vacant restaurant building by Interstate 57 on Paxton’s west side.

Pueblo Lindo owners to open diner in former Pizza Hut building

PAXTON — The owners of Pueblo Lindo announced recently that they plan to open a diner in the former Pizza Hut building at 506 John St. in Paxton.

The building was most recently home to Three Boys Diner, which closed suddenly earlier this year after being in operation since last summer.

CORRECTION: Country Gardens is not for sale

The Country Gardens Restaurant by Interstate 57 on Paxton’s west side is not for sale, its owner said.

Mareci's Bakery set to open in upcoming days

PAXTON — When Dawn Long and Shannon Wurmnest were growing up, the two sisters spent a lot of their time baking in the kitchen with their mother, Judy Mareci, or with other relatives.

So it’s only fitting that Long and her younger sister are back to doing just that — and with their mother, too.
