PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:


Fire destroys shed, combine harvester at farm near Melvin

MELVIN — A fire early Monday morning on a rural Melvin farm did an estimated $350,000 to $400,000 in damage, destroying a newly built shed and a combine harvester and other equipment inside of it, Melvin’s fire chief said.


Site of police shootout to be memorialized this month

PAXTON — There are three dates that stand out in the memory of Paxton Mayor Bill Ingold and many others his age who live in the Ford County seat:

— Nov. 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.


Youngest of Clarence Four pleads; new details emerge about militia group

URBANA — The youngest of four Ford County men charged with crimes committed as part of a homegrown terrorist organization, including converting assault rifles into machine guns and committing robberies to finance their operation, has pleaded guilty.

Terrorism suspect appears in Paxton courtroom on unrelated charges

PAXTON — A former Ford County sheriff’s deputy who is awaiting trial in federal court for alleged acts of terrorism appeared Tuesday in Ford County Circuit Court on unrelated criminal charges.
