Ford County deputies issue 52 tickets — 40 for speeding — in December

PAXTON — The Ford County Sheriff’s Office issued 52 traffic citations in December, including 40 for speeding.

• Thomas A. Lynch, 66, of Tacoma, Wash., for driving under the influence of alcohol.

• Taylor R. Finney, 19, of Paxton, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Melvin man jailed following stabbing

MELVIN — A Melvin man remained Monday at the Ford County Jail after he allegedly stabbed another man in his chest and back during a fight Saturday night.

No bond had been set yet for Toby Wayne Price, 45, who was arrested for aggravated battery, aggravated assault and reckless conduct, according to Ford County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Duffy.

Cops delivering free Christmas meals to Ford County families

PAXTON — When Ford County sheriff’s deputy Dave Kaeding visits homes each year to deliver to families a free Christmas meal, sometimes they don’t answer the door.

“Some families are pretty proud and they won’t answer the door, but we know they will need it (so we leave it on their doorstep) and they’ll come get it when we leave,” Kaeding said.


Ford County EMA coordinator could be hired in January

PAXTON — The Ford County Board is expected to vote next month on the hiring of a coordinator for the Ford County Emergency Management Agency — and possibly even an assistant coordinator.

“Both would be part-time jobs,” said Tom McQuinn of rural Paxton, chairman of the board’s personnel and insurance committee.


Paxton residents charged with battery for breaking child's thighbone

PAXTON — Two Paxton residents face felony battery charges for allegedly fracturing the thighbone of a child during an October incident.
