Ford County Circuit Court cases (Jan. 10, 2018)

Following is a list of cases filed recently in Ford County Circuit Court, as posted at www.judici.com:

Felonies
• Joshua A. Hatten, 31, of Tuscola, for four counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking, three counts of aggravated battery in a public place, two counts of burglary and two counts of aggravated battery to a child.


Two Gibson City officers granted raises

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City Council members granted pay increases to two police officers during a 10-minute meeting Monday night.

Tony Row’s pay will increase by $3.50 per hour to a total hourly wage of $27.50, while Kaleb Kraft’s hourly increase is $2.50 for a total of $26.50 per hour.

PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:


Carjacking suspect released from Paxton jail, sent back to prison

PAXTON — A parolee from Douglas County who is charged with 11 felonies for allegedly trying to hijack multiple vehicles in Paxton last month has been released from the Ford County Jail and put back in state prison for violating his parole.


Paxton police chief set to have 'acting' removed from his title

PAXTON — After serving for more than four months as the city’s acting police chief, Coy Cornett is expected to be appointed to the position on a more permanent basis Tuesday night.

According to the agenda for Tuesday’s monthly meeting of the Paxton City Council, aldermen are expected to vote on Mayor Bill Ingold’s appointment of an unnamed city official.


Ludlow man hit and killed by a train

LUDLOW — A 26-year-old Ludlow man was killed when he was struck by a passenger train in Ludlow on Sunday evening.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said Eric Morales was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:20 p.m.

Northrup said a pedestrian reported seeing Mr. Morales attempting to cross the railroad tracks just north of the intersection of Thomas and North Chestnut streets.

The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:

➜ Theresa S. Nelson, 49, who listed an address at 447 E. Prospect St. in Paxton, was arrested on a Ford County warrant at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at 105 E. State St., Apt. 5.

• Britnie M. Miller, 29, of Sycamore, for retail theft (more than $300).
• Courtney A. White, 38, of Chicago, for driving on a revoked/suspended driver’s license.
• Brendan F. King, 33, of Paxton, for criminal damage to property ($500 to $10,000).
