GIBSON CITY — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school board members approved a $603,000 air conditioning project for GCMS Elementary School on Monday night.


PBL High School renovations to be done entirely this summer

PAXTON — Renovations at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School that were intended to be completed during the next two summers will instead be done entirely this summer.


PBL school board to vote on bids for construction projects

PAXTON —  The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board is expected to approve bids for the Clara Peterson Elementary School addition/renovation project and PBL High School renovation project during its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the board room at the unit office in Paxton.

The board will also hear updates on the status of the two projects from architects and engineers.


More bids approved for PBL construction projects

PAXTON — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board voted 6-0 last Thursday to accept bids from contractors for various aspects of the Clara Peterson Elementary School expansion/renovation project and PBL High School renovation project.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school board members on Monday night approved a four-year negotiated contract with the GCMS Education Association, the district’s teachers’ union.


PBL Alumni Hall of Fame nominations due Feb. 28

PAXTON — Nominations of candidates for the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School Alumni Hall of Fame are due Wednesday, Feb. 28.

A selection committee looks for outstanding achievement before or after graduation from former students of PBL, Paxton, Buckley-Loda, Buckley-Loda Township, Ford Central, Roberts-Thawville and Roberts high schools.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school board members learned Monday night that the school district’s mid-year fiscal outlook is solid and that things are running smoothly.


Ford County sheriff to award $500 scholarship

PAXTON — Ford County Sheriff Mark Doran is accepting applications through March 15 for a $500 college scholarship.

Doran’s scholarship is part of $53,500 in college scholarships that will be awarded by the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2018-19 academic year. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only.
