Gibson City Council discusses North Park playground project, extends contracts

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City Council members discussed funding proposals Monday night for the second phase of the Gibson City Rotary Club’s playground-improvement project at the city’s North Park.


Volunteers sought for Paxton Community Sale

PAXTON — The Paxton Park District is seeking volunteers for its annual Community Sale on Saturday, April 7.

During the park board’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13, the board firmed up details about who they need to work and volunteer at certain times.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City’s public swimming pool is in need of major upgrades in the coming years.

That was the analysis from pool manager Randy Ferguson at a combined meeting of the Gibson City Council’s Parks & Buildings Committee and the Gibson City Pool Board on Thursday night.


Paxton park board to remain at 7 commissioners

PAXTON — The Paxton Park District’s board of commissioners will still consist of seven members — for now.

The board discussed the possibility of lowering the number of commissioner appointments to five at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Commissioner Bobby Kinnaird made a motion to pursue a ballot question on the March 2018 primary election ballot, but there was no second.


Halloween parade set for Oct. 31 in downtown Paxton

PAXTON — The Paxton Park District’s board of commissioners finalized plans for the annual park district-sponsored Halloween Parade during its meeting last week.

The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
