'It'll be fun': Keri Dornbusch takes over as GCMS High School girls basketball coach

GIBSON CITY -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school board approved the hiring of Keri Dornbusch as the high school's head girls basketball coach at its meeting on Monday, June 19.
"I'm definitely looking forward to having a good season and having a good group of girls to work with," Dornbusch said. "It'll be fun. We'll see what happens.

Ford-Iroquois Indians Senior Legion baseball loses 8-2 to Shelby County

WINDSOR -- The Ford-Iroquois Indians Senior Legion baseball team lost 8-2 on Wednesday to Shelby County.
The Indians led 2-1 after four innings, but Shelby County scored four runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth.

RANTOUL -- The Ford-Iroquois Senior Legion baseball team won 13-7 Tuesday over Rantoul.

BLOOMINGTON -- Sam Baillie was granted the opportunity to snap on his Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons football helmet one last time in the Illinois Shrine Game on Saturday. 
He was on the East sideline at Illinois Wesleyan’s Tucci Stadium in Bloomington and featured all-stars from high schools across the state (West defeated East, 58-7).

Paxton Swedes swept in doubleheader by Champaign Dream

PAXTON -- The Paxton Swedes were swept in a Sunday Eastern Illinois Baseball League doubleheader against the Champaign Dream.
In game one, the Dream won 12-1.
"It went downhill in a hurry," Swedes head coach Mark Prina said.
The Dream finished game one with 13 hits.

Brock Niebuhr has 'big shoes to fill' as PBL High School's new head baseball coach

PAXTON -- Brock Niebuhr knows he has "big shoes to fill."
The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board approved the hiring of Niebuhr as the high school's head baseball coach at last Wednesday's meeting.
Niebuhr succeeds a 22-year run in which Pat Prina and Rick Johnson led the Panthers to a combined 453 wins.
