Waterstradt earns No. 1 national ranking in tumbling, wins team gold in World Cup double-mini

GILMAN — Following Garret Waterstradt’s performance at the Loule World Cup in Portugal, his coach gave him a pioneering comparison.

“He’s like Neil Armstrong from Paxton,” Irish’s Gymnastics owner Danny Irish said. “When you’re on the moon, you couldn’t ask for a better legacy of success, and I think that kid’s on the moon.”

Garret Waterstradt medals in World Cup competition in Portugal

LOULE, PORTUGAL — Paxton native Garret Waterstradt received a gold medal for Team USA on the Double-Mini Team competition in the Loule World Cup, which was held on Sept. 7-8.

Individually, he made it to the finals and received sixth place in the junior elite competition.
