EL PASO — In what was easily the biggest beatdown by Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley this season, the Falcons stormed past the El Paso-Gridley Titans 63-6 in a Heart of Illinois Conference Large Division matchup on the road Friday.

PBL football seeks to clinch a playoff berth as it faces Watseka on the road

WATSEKA -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda football team is trying to move on after its loss last Friday to Clifton Central.
 
"Obviously, that one is a hard one to swallow," PBL head coach Jeff Graham said. "We didn't play very well, and they played great. It's over. There's nothing you can do about it. We can't sit back and feel sorry for ourselves.

IHSA football playoff outlook (after Week 7)

In the IHSA playoff system, 256 teams are chosen to play in the postseason.
 
After the teams are chosen, they are divided into eight 32-team classes based on enrollment.
 
If the playoffs were to start today, for instance, schools with enrollments of 303-399 would be placed in Class 2A and schools with enrollments of 399

GCMS football to play at El Paso-Gridley

EL PASO -- A win Friday over El Paso-Gridley will give the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School varsity football team at least a share of the Heart of Illinois Conference Large Division title.
 
A win over EP-G, combined with a victory in the regular-season finale against Deer Creek-Mackinaw, would guarantee GCMS the outright division championship.
