PBL Panthers Special Olympics basketball team wins state title

NORMAL — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Special Olympics basketball team won the Special Olympics Illinois Senior 15 state championship at last weekend’s tournament at Illinois State University’s Horton Fieldhouse.

On Sunday, the Panthers defeated the Jacksonville Wolverines 31-21 in the state championship game.

“This win was definitely a team effort,” PBL coach Alex Goudy said.


SVC-HOIC all-star basketball games set for Saturday, March 23

GIBSON CITY -- On Saturday, March 23, the WGCY radio station in Gibson City will host its Sangamon Valley Conference vs. Heart of Illinois Conference girls and boys all-star basketball game, featuring senior players form both conferences.
 
Players were selected by a group of coaches from each respective conference.

GCMS girls basketball ends season with loss to St. Joseph-Ogden in IHSA Class 2A sectional semifinals

GIBSON CITY -- With a 53-38 loss ot St. Joseph-Ogden in the IHSA Class 2A Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Sectional semifinals, the GCMS girls basketball team ended its 2018-19 season with a record of 24-6. 
 
It was the Falcons' first sectional appearance since 2005.

HERSCHER -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team lost 41-29 to Watseka in the IHSA Class 2A Herscher Regional championship game on Thursday.
 
With the loss, PBL finished its record of 17-13 team.
