Vaughn Gentzler -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda boys track and field standout finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds in the finals, and 8.51 seconds in preliminaries, for Monmouth College at the Midwest Conference Meet last weekend.
Gentzler was also part of a 4x200 relay team that finished fourth with a time of 1:31.5 and a 4x400 relay

Eureka girls basketball ends season with fourth-place finish at state

NORMAL -- With a 45-32 loss to Teutopolis in the third-place game of the IHSA Class 2A state tournament, the Eureka girls basketball team finished its season with a record of 28-5.

NORMAL -- Despite a double-double from Tessa Leman, Eureka lost 55-50 to Chicago Harlan in the IHSA Class 2A state semifinals on Friday.
Leman scored 26 points for the Hornets (28-4) while also grabbing 13 rebounds. 
Eureka grabbed an 11-10 lead by the end of the first quarter thanks to a 3-pointer by Leman that cut a Hornets deficit

Jerry Prina, 2003 PBL graduate, to lead Eureka girls basketball in state tournament

EUREKA — Jerry Prina, a 2003 Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School graduate, will lead the Eureka High School girls basketball team in this weekend’s IHSA Class 2A state-final tournament.

Although this is the first time he is coaching in a state tournament, Prina is familiar with the IHSA postseason scene.

GILMAN -- After graduation, Madison Grohler plans to attend Union University to major in communications.
She was one of five seniors on a Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team that ended its season in the IHSA Class 2A regional round last week.

PBL girls basketball standout Liberty Jamison signs with Lake Land College

PAXTON -- Liberty Jamison's basketball career will continue for another two years.
Starting next fall, a career that started as a player in the Paxton Park District's youth league when she was 5 years old, and continued through Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High and PBL High School, will continue in a place nearly 80 miles away.

GCMS girls basketball loses to Watseka in IHSA Class 2A regional championship game

WATSEKA -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley girls basketball team ended its 2017-18 season with a 54-28 loss to Watseka in the championship game of the IHSA Class 2A Watseka Regional on Thursday.
Megan Moody led GCMS in sccoring with 11 points, including eight in a third quarter in which the Falcons outscored Watseka 13-8.
