PBL girls basketball defeats Iroquois West 54-35

GILMAN -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team won 54-35 over Iroquois West on Thursday. 
The Panthers (11-10, 3-0 Sangamon Valley Conference) outscored Iroquois West 19-4 in the first quarter as Hannah Schwarz had five points, including a 3-for-4 effort from the free-throw line, while Madi Peden made 4-of-4 attempts from the charity stripe. 

GCMS girls basketball improves to 17-4 with win over Heyworth

GIBSON CITY -- With a 65-56 win Thursday over Heyworth, the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley girls basketball team has matched their win total from last season.
Last year, the Falcons went 17-13, which at the time was the program's first winning season since 2011-12.

PBL, GCMS girls basketball teams pick up road wins

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 61, Centennial 55. Mackenzie Bruns blasted off for 26 points, including 19 in the second half, as the visiting Panthers (10-10) held off the Chargers (1-15) in a nonconference tilt. Madi Peden added 12 points for PBL, which hit 19 of 29 free throws.

EUREKA -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team lost 53-40 to Eureka on Saturday.
Baylee Cosgrove led PBL (9-10) in scoring with 11 points while MaKenna Ecker had eight points, Brooke Walder had six points, Kirra Lantz had five points, Mackenzie Bruns and Hannah Schwarz each had three points and Madi Peden and Clarisa Wieneke each had two points.

GCMS girls basketball improves to 15-4 with win over Iroquois West

GILMAN -- A 51-27 win on Saturday improved the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley varsity girls basketball team's record to 15-4.
The Falcons are two wins away from matching their win total from last year, when they went 17-13.
"That's great for us," GCMS head coach Keri Dornbusch said. "I'm very proud of the girls and the way they're playing.
