Gibson City Youth Fishing Derby to take place on Saturday

GIBSON CITY —  Gibson City’s third annual youth fishing derby is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 19, at Jordan Pond, which is located west of Gibson City just off of Highway 9 on 300 East Road.

Registration is at 10:30 a.m., with fishing to take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A hot dog meal will be served at approximately noon.


Dylan Benningfield Memorial Dodgeball Tournament

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley/Fisher wrestlers, and GCMS High School's Red Army student section, hosted a dodgeball tournament on Sunday in memory of Dylan Benningfield, who died in a car accident earlier in April.


SVC awards scholarships

PAXTON -- The Sangamon Valley Conference awarded $500 scholarships in five different areas, and Paxton-Buckley-Loda students were awarded three of the five.
 
Adam McMullin was awarded an athletic scholarship, Cassidi Nuckols was awarded a female athletic scholarship and Jaxson Coplea was awarded a male athletic scholarship.

Youth/women's wing-shooting clinic to take place June 23-24

COLLISON -- A youth/women's wing-shooting clinic is available at the Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area near Collison.
 
The clinic will take place at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24.

Kickoff date set for Ford County Special Olympics' 2018 bowling season

GIBSON CITY -- The 2018 season of Ford County’s Special Olympics Bowling team's  first practice will be Thursday, May 3, at the Gibson Bowl in Gibson City at 6 p.m.
 
Bowlers will bowl 2-3 games at each practice.

GCMS to host dodgeball tournament in honor of Dylan Benningfield

GIBSON CITY -- The Nurses Week committee at Gibson Area Hospital is hosting a 5K run/two-mile walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 12.
 
Profits fro mthe race will be designated to support the GAH Foundation tuition reimbursement program.
