PBL's Garrett Bachtold qualifies for AAU Junior Olympic Games

INDIANAPOLIS — Garrett Bachtold, a senior-to-be at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School, won his AAU Region 13 track and field qualifier in the pole vault on Sunday.

As a result, Bachtold qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Game, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 25-Aug. 4.

EAST PEORIA -- Ryder James of the Paxton-Buckley-Loda eighth-grade boys track and field team finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:48.48 in the IESA Class AA state meet.

CHARLESTON -- Delanie Dykes of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School girls track and field team advanced to the finals of the IHSA Class 1A state meet in the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash.
Dykes ran a time of 2:18.32 in the 800 race and a time of 59.1 seconds in the 400 dash in Thursday's preliminary round.
