GCMS track and field teams compete in Heart of Illinois Indoor Meet

BLOOMINGTON -- Aidan Laughery of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School boys track and field team finished first in the boys' 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09 seconds in Thursday's Heart of Illinois Indoor Meet, followed by teammates Ethan Kasper (23rd, 7.87), Connor Main (59th, 8.57) and Elijah Van Note (61st, 8.72).

PBL boys track and field looks to continue success despite bump-up to Class 2A

PAXTON -- The expectations have not changed for the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School boys track and field team for the 2019 season. 
 
Last year, PBL finished second in the IHSA Class 1A Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Sectional to eventual state-champion Ridgeview after winning its fourth Twin Valley Conference championship in five years.

PBL boys track and field finishes seventh in Rantoul Indoor Invite

CHAMPAIGN -- Ryder James of the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School boys track and field team finished second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:59.99 in Saturday's Rantoul Indoor Invite.
 
The Panthers finished seventh as a team in the 24-team invite with a score of 29.

PBL track and field competes at Uni Mini Meet (March 6, 2019)

CHAMPAIGN -- In the girls' 200-meter dash at Wednesday's Uni Meet, Paxton-Buckley-Loda's Hannah Schwarz finished first with a time of 27.35. Lexi Johnson placed seventh with a time of 29.28 seconds, followed by Lillie Frichtl (eighth, 29.53) and Macie Wright (16th, 33.07). 
 
Katelyn Crabb finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.83 seconds.

Andrew Zenner -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda baseball standout picked up a save for John A. Logan College in a 5-0 win over Triton College on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Rachel Hurliman -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball head coach was on the bench for the St. Joseph-Ogden girls at the IHSA Class 2A state tournament last weekend as a volunteer assistant.

PBL track and field competes in Uni Mini Meet

URBANA -- In the girls' 60-meter hurdles at the Uni Mini Meet on Wednesday, Paxton-Buckley-Loda's Katelyn Crabb finished first with a time of 9.94 seconds.
 
Crabb also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 32-3 1/2 while Lexi Johnson placed fourth with a jump of 30-6 3/4.

Area sports catchup (Feb. 16, 2019)

Nick Schultz -- The former Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley boys track and field standout finished first with a leap of 2.03 meters in the high jump for Indiana State University in the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special.

Nick Porter -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda boys track and field standout ran a new personal best of 4:15.35 to finish 30th overall at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet on Feb. 8 in Allendale, Michigan.
