FISHER -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley/Fisher High School wrestling team won 55-21 Tuesday, Jan. 15, over Olympia.
 
Calen Ragle pinned Austin Swan in 1:23 for GCMS/Fisher in the 152-pound match.

PBL boys basketball wins 65-28 over Iroquois West

PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School boys basketball team won 65-28 Tuesday, Jan. 15, over Iroquois West.
 
With the win, the Panthers improved to a record of 11-7 while remaining undefeated in the Sangamon Valley Conference at 4-0. They will face St. Thomas More in Champaign next Tuesday.

GCMS boys basketball wins in overtime over Cissna Park in battle of state-ranked teams

CISSNA PARK — A game between two state-ranked teams always has the potential to draw a big crowd.
 
That was the case for Tuesday boys basketball game between Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley and Cissna Park, as the Cissna Park High School gym was filled to capacity by the third quarter of the preceding junior varsity game.

PAXTON — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda seventh-grade volleyball team lost 25-23, 25-23 Monday to Rantoul St. Malachy.


GCMS girls basketball defeats Lexington 45-38

LEXINGTON -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley girls basketball team won 45-38 Monday over Lexington.
 
The Falcons (18-4, 9-1 Heart of Illinois Conference) outscored Lexington 11-4 in the fourth quarter to break a 34-34 tie.

PBL girls basketball defeats Iroquois West 54-22 in SVC Tournament quarterfinals, to face Momence in semifinals on Wednesday

ONARGA -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team's hopes of defending their Sangamon Valley Conference Tournament championship did not get off to the prettiest of starts.
 
On two occasions in the first quarter of Monday's SVC Tournament quarterfinal game, seventh-seeded Iroquois West held a lead against No. 2-seeded PBL.

PBL eighth-grade volleyball improves to 3-0 with two-set win over Rantoul St. Malachy

PAXTON — A 25-20, 25-11 win Monday over Rantoul St. Malachy improved the Paxton-Buckley-Loda eighth-grade volleyball team’s record to 3-0 to start the 2019 season.
