PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School wrestling team lost 36-24 Monday to Grant Park.
 
The Panthers' Keyn Humes pinned Joseph Ledford in 2:14 in the 145-pound match while Hunter Anderson (160 pounds), Nick Reck (138 pounds) and Christian Denam (220 pounds) each won by forfeit.

GCMS girls basketball wins 51-44 over Fieldcrest

MINONK -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School girls basketball won 51-44 Monday over Fieldcrest.
 
The Falcons overcame a 15-11 first-quarter deficit by outscoring Fieldcrest 10-3 in the second quarter to take a 21-18 lead. 
 
In the third quarter, Claire Retherford scored eight points to lead GCMS as it extended its lead to 34-29.

PBL cheerleaders place second in competition

WILMINGTON — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School cheerleading squad placed second in their division at a competition held Sunday at Wilmington High School, qualifying for the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association’s state meet as a result.


GCMS/Fisher High School wrestling team places second in Reaper Classic

PLANO -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley/Fisher High School wrestling team finished second in the Reaper Classic at Plano.
 
The Falcons finished the two-day, 19-team tournament with a team score of 151 1/2 on Saturday. Aurora Christian won the tournament with a score of 233 1/2. 
 
Cale Horsch won the 106-pound championship.
