GCMS boys basketball wins in overtime over Cissna Park in battle of state-ranked teams

CISSNA PARK — A game between two state-ranked teams always has the potential to draw a big crowd.
That was the case for Tuesday boys basketball game between Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley and Cissna Park, as the Cissna Park High School gym was filled to capacity by the third quarter of the preceding junior varsity game.

LEXINGTON -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley girls basketball team won 45-38 Monday over Lexington.
The Falcons (18-4, 9-1 Heart of Illinois Conference) outscored Lexington 11-4 in the fourth quarter to break a 34-34 tie.

ONARGA -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls basketball team's hopes of defending their Sangamon Valley Conference Tournament championship did not get off to the prettiest of starts.
On two occasions in the first quarter of Monday's SVC Tournament quarterfinal game, seventh-seeded Iroquois West held a lead against No. 2-seeded PBL.

TOLONO -- Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda went down 42-27 against Olympia in the first day of the Illini Prairie Conference meet on Friday, despite Rashon Allen (132) and Nolan Roseman (152) each pinning their opponents.
Allen pinned Matthew Bagby in a time of 2:40 while Roseman won via 1:35 pinfall over Austin Swan.

CLINTON -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley/Fisher wrestling team won 41-35 Friday over Clinton.
Garrett Wright won via 54-second pinfall in the 220-pound match while Braylen Kean won via 1:22 pinfall in the 160-pound match.
