PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior varsity baseball team won 11-1 Thursday over Prairie Central.
Jarred Gronsky and Mason Bruns combined to pitch a one-hitter for PBL.

PAXTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior varsity softball team won 21-11 Thursday over LeRoy.

GCMS softball loses 8-1 to Tuscola

GIBSON CITY -- As Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley head softball coach Kara Smith said after Thursday's game against Tuscola, "it's early in the season, still."

DOWNS -- A trio of Paxton-Buckley-Loda baseball pitchers tossed a no-hitter in an 8-1 win Thursday over Tri-Valley.
Ben Jarboe was credited with the win as he struck out seven batters while yielding one unearned run on one walk through five innings pitched.

PBL girls track and field gears up for outdoor season

PAXTON -- Paxton-Buckley-Loda senior Katelyn Crabb and sophomore Hannah Schwarz will compete in the Illinois Prep Top Times Meet on Saturday.
Crabb will compete in the 60-meter hurdles with a seed time of 9.83 seconds while Schwarz has a seed time of 27.35 seconds for the 200-meter dash.

HOOPESTON -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda softball team lost 13-5 to Hoopeston Area on Tuesday, March 19.
Emma Steiner took the loss on the mound for PBL (0-2), allowing 13 runs -- six earned -- on 11 hits and four walks with one strikeout through six innings.

GCMS girls track and field prepares for outdoor season

GIBSON CITY -- Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley senior Delanie Dykes is the girls track and field team's lone qualifier for Friday's Illinois Prep Top Times Class A Meet.
She will race in the 800- and 400-meter runs after placing times of 2:23.9 and 1:01.53, respectively, earlier in the indoor season.

GCMS's Caleb Bleich signs letter of intent to participate in soccer, track and field for Millikin University

GIBSON CITY -- Caleb Bleich, a senior at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, signed his letter of intent to play soccer and participate in track and field for Millikin University.
Bleich placed ninth in the long jump in the 2017 IHSA Class 1A state track and field meet and qualified for the state meet in the long and triple jump, as well as the 400-meter dash.
