PBL volleyball wins in two sets over Danville Schlarman

DANVILLE -- On Monday, the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School volleyball team won 25-19, 25-6 Monday over Danville Schlarman. 
 
Emma Bogen and CeCe Damilano posted five and four kills, respectively, for Schlarman (9-13) while PBL improved to 22-9 with its win.

GCMS football to host Dee-Mack in regular-season finale

GIBSON CITY -- Seventeen members of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley football team will play in their final regular-season game as the Falcons host their 2018 regular-season finale at 7 p.m.

PAXTON -- In Illinois high school football, 170 teams have clinched a berth in the IHSA's postseason
 
Eighty-six berths remain vacant. Dwight/Gardner-South Wilmington hopes to clinch one of those spots as it travels to face Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 7 p.m.

IHSA football playoff outlook (after Week 8)

After Week 9, the IHSA's playoff selection show will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, with Class 1A, 2A and 3A pairings to be shown at 8:10, 8:20 and 8:30 p.m., respectively. The show can be seen on television on NBC Sports Chicago Plus or online at nbcsportschicago.com/watchlive.

GCMS tennis ends season in sectionals

CHAMPAIGN -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley tennis team concluded its season on Saturday at the IHSA Class 1A Champaign Central Sectional.
 
"Congratulations to all the girls who played at Sectionals this past Saturday," GCMS head coach Cindy Petersen said.

Jordan Anderson -- The former Paxton-Buckley-Loda football standout had two tackles for Knox College in a 28-7 win Saturday over Grinnell College. 
 
Sam Baillie -- The former Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley football standout had one unassisted tackle and three assisted tackles for Culver-Stockton in a 24-21 loss Saturday to William Penn.

PBL volleyball places third in SVC/RVC Tournament

KANKAKEE -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School volleyball team finished third in the Sangamon/River Valley Conference Tournament.
 
The Panthers defeated Watseka 25-19, 30-28 in the third-place match on Saturday after losing 25-23, 30-28 in the semifinals to eventual-champion Beecher.
