PAXTON – While the spring season may have ended for Paxton-Buckley-Loda’s baseball team Thursday, standout catcher Axl Denault’s year in baseball will continue into the summer.
EAST PEORIA — Paxton-Buckley-Loda seventh-grader C.J. Nuckols finished 11th in the shot put event in last weekend’s IESA State Meet.
She had a throw of 27-10.
“All of the other girls were really nice and really competitive,” Nuckols said. “They were really good. I was really happy I went there. I got the goal I wanted to beat next year.”
EAST PEORIA — For Paxton-Buckley-Loda eighth-grader Matt Harper, the heat at last weekend’s IESA State Meet was a bit too much.
After running in the 800-meter run, Harper ran a mile run of 5:23, good enough for 33rd-place.
CHARLESTON — With a freshman and sophomore representing Paxton-Buckley-Loda in last Thursday’s Class 1A state meet preliminaries, sophomore long jumper Sydney Porter said she is hoping it was the start of something big.
“Next year, I want to definitely make it to finals,” Porter said. “Hopefully, in my senior year, I’ll place.”
Paxton-Buckley-Loda spring athletes were recognized for their accomplishments Monday at PBL High School with a Spring Sports Awards ceremony. Here are some of the highlights.
