The Village of Rantoul is seeking a fulltime

Water Treatment Plant Operator

Under general supervision, this individual performs a variety of duties related to water treatment procedures and maintenance of related equipment. Duties include monitoring and regulating the treatment process, taking samples, performing laboratory testing, making necessary adjustments to ensure treatment results are compliant with standards and regulations, and maintaining all related logs and files. The selected candidate will inspect, repair and service and clean equipment to ensure effective treatment results. This individual is also responsible for maintaining the building and grounds of the water treatment facility, including responsibilities such as painting, mowing and snow removal.

This position requires knowledge, skill and intellectual development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school. Experience with water treatment systems is preferred, as well as at least two years mechanical, electrical and plumbing maintenance and repair experience. Selected applicant must be willing to respond to emergencies at all times of the day and will be required to live within a twenty mile radius of the corporate limits of Rantoul within six months after the completion of a six month probationary period. A post-offer medical examination and drug screen will be required of the selected applicant.

Engineering Information

Technician

The Village of Rantoul is seeking candidates for a full-time Engineering Information Technician position within Public Works. The candidate is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Geographic Information System (GIS) data and maps using GIS software and will also provide technical support of an engineering nature for the Village.

The selected candidate will manage the Village's GIS program for infrastructure, public safety, public facilities, existing utility systems and real estate mapping. They will design GIS and related databases as well as assist other departments in the application of GIS. This position will also oversee, program, maintain and manipulate "Map and Plan Inventory" database which includes documents such as plats, engineering plans, land and utility record maps and other associated documents. This person will respond to information requests from the public, contractors, consultants and other Village personnel while performing other duties as required or assigned. The candidate will recommend the selection and purchase of necessary software and equipment.

The successful candidate will prepare, or assist in preparing, estimates, surveys, statistics, minor engineering design drawings, reports and construction schedules. This person will verify that minor Village projects are constructed in accordance with project specifications and proper documentation is maintained.

This position requires knowledge, skill and intellectual development equivalent to the completion of two years of college with coursework in Computer Aided Design, GIS, construction technology or a related field, proficiency with AutoCAD drafting software and knowledge of proper drafting techniques is necessary. Knowledge of ArcGIS software, as well as basic utility engineering and mapping principles is a plus.

The selected applicant must have a valid driver's license and is required to live within a 20 mile radius of the corporate limits of Rantoul within six months after the completion of a six month probationary term. A post-offer drug screen will be required of the selected applicant.
