Wind-farm developers: 'We will go elsewhere' if rules too restrictive

PAXTON — The developers of three proposed wind farms in Ford County warned the county board Tuesday that they may not be able to proceed with construction under even the least restrictive of proposed regulations being considered by the board.

Tattered flags being collected for flag-retirement ceremony

PIPER CITY — The Gov. Thomas Ford Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is collecting U.S. flags so that they can be properly retired during a public flag retirement ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Branch Park at 200 E. Walnut St. in Piper City.


Sheriff issues warning to drivers in Ford County

One dead in crash near Piper City

PIPER CITY — A Michigan woman was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle accident near Piper City in northern Ford County.

District 21 Illinois State Police said in a news release that Rosemary E. Posekany, 66, of Greenville, Mich., was pronounced dead by Ford County Coroner Rick Flessner at the scene of the crash at U.S. 24 and County Road 1700 East.


Controversial assessments reversed in Ford County

PAXTON — The Ford County Board of Review voted Thursday afternoon to reverse the controversial new assessments that the county’s former supervisor of assessments had assigned to some 1,300 properties in eight communities last year.
