Village again protests proposed changes to wind-farm rules

ROBERTS — For the second time in as many months, the central Ford County village of Roberts has filed a formal protest of proposed changes to the county’s ordinance regulating wind farms.

ROBERTS — Rick Flessner said Friday that he plans to resign next year as president of the Roberts village board.

Since 2000, the 63-year-old has continuously served as the elected president of the board in the central Ford County community of 362 residents.

ROBERTS — It remained unclear Friday afternoon who funded the mass-mailing of political flyers that were sent to residents of Ford County opposing the candidacy of two women running for seats on the county board.

Village officials think proposed wind-farm rule changes may be inadequate

ROBERTS — Officials in this central Ford County village think the proposed changes to the county’s ordinance regulating wind farms may be inadequate to protect rural landowners.

The village board voted unanimously during its Oct. 1 meeting to send a resolution to the Ford County Board stating that the village “opposes anything less” than the limitations proposed.

Library in Roberts closed permanently

ROBERTS — The Roberts Public Library will not re-open, the village board decided at its monthly meeting on Sept. 10.

Closed since October 2016 following the discovery of rotted floor joists underneath a stage on the library’s north end, the facility at 108 E. Green St. in downtown Roberts needed about $5,000 in repairs to re-open.
