Buckley board hears update on old windmill's restoration

BUCKLEY — Buckley Village Board members received an update on the progress of the refurbishing of an old windmill at the Buckley Lake property during their monthly meeting Monday night.

The update came from Buckley resident Les Dippel, a member of the Buckley Sportsman’s Club, which recently began refurbishing the windmill.

Buckley to seek loan for refurbishing of water tower

BUCKLEY — Buckley Village Board members voted unanimously Monday night to allow Larry Johnson, an engineer with Fehr Graham in Champaign, to proceed with financing paperwork for the refurbishing of the town’s water tower and to allow Board President Sheree Stachura to sign the necessary documents.

Informational meeting on proposed sewer system in Buckley scheduled

BUCKLEY — Village board members Monday night scheduled a public informational meeting about the town’s proposed new sewer system.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Crusader Hall at Christ Lutheran High School, 201 W. Lincoln Ave.

Jordan Giese named PBL High School's student of month

PAXTON — Jordan Giese of Loda has been named Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School’s student of the month for September.

The senior was nominated for the award by his chemistry and physics teacher, Dave Shellhamer. In Shellhamer’s nomination letter, he wrote:

Monthly water service billing, rate hike suggested in Buckley

BUCKLEY — Buckley’s auditor, Stan Feller, suggested that the village bill residents for water service on a monthly basis and also increase the base water rates charged to residents during the village board’s monthly meeting.

Feller noted that as a result of a reduction in the town’s assessed value, the village is not receiving the amount of property taxes it needs.

Buckley trustees vote to hire temporary maintenance worker

BUCKLEY — Buckley Village Board members voted Monday night to allow village maintenance worker Donnie Miller to hire someone to help him do some work in town at a rate of $10 per hour for 20 hours per week for two weeks.

Miller had been off of work due to health reasons and is in need of help to get some things done.

Water well at Buckley Lake working again, board learns

BUCKLEY — The water well at the village-owned Buckley Lake property is now working well, the village board learned during its monthly meeting Monday night.
