Ashkum man gets 50 years in prison for murder of Gilman clerk

WATSEKA — Before being sentenced Monday to 50 years in state prison for the murder of a Gilman gas station clerk, an ever-defiant Andrew M. Condon insisted he is innocent and vowed to “never stop fighting to get free.”

“The fact remains that the state never proved me guilty, and I am proclaiming my innocence to the end,” the 36-year-old rural Ashkum man said.

Convicted murderer seeks new trial in Iroquois County

WATSEKA — Convicted murderer Andrew M. Condon is seeking a new trial, claiming that an Iroquois County judge made errors that prejudiced his case.

The 36-year-old rural Ashkum man’s attorney, Ed Glazar Jr. of Kankakee, filed a motion for a new trial during a hearing Thursday in Iroquois County Circuit Court.


Iroquois County Camp 911 to visit St. John's Lutheran School in Buckley

Pair linked to series of burglaries, vehicle thefts in western Iroquois County

GILMAN — Two men arrested recently for retail theft have been linked to several burglaries and vehicle thefts in western Iroquois County, the sheriff’s office said in an Aug. 26 news release.

Juan Perez, 18, of Gilman, and Aaron Tuttle, 19, of Danforth, were arrested for retail theft in Watseka on Aug. 20.

MILFORD — The family of Jonathan D. Rubin, the Gilman gas station clerk who was gunned down by a masked man in 2012, said his killer should receive the maximum possible term in prison.


Man who shot gas station clerk over denial of pack of cigarettes convicted of murder

WATSEKA — An Iroquois County man was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday night for fatally shooting a gas station clerk who had denied him the purchase of a pack of cigarettes.

A 12-member Iroquois County jury deliberated for about four hours before reaching its guilty verdict against Andrew M. Condon, 36, of rural Ashkum.
