BUCKLEY — Christ Lutheran High School in Buckley will be the site of the annual Ford-Iroquois Extension Ag Day 2012.
The daylong event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m. Coffee, juice, and pastries will be available during the morning. Visitors will also have a chance to view various displays featuring Ford-Iroquois agribusiness Extension partners throughout the day.
Certified crop advisors will be able to earn continuing education credits for sessions offered.
Mike Gray, a University of Illinois entomologist, will be the first speaker. Gray will present “Bt Hybrids and Reported Corn Rootworm Resistance in Iowa: Outlook for Illinois Growers in 2012.”
Aaron Hager, a UI weed specialist, will then update the audience on herbicide resistance.
Darrel Good, UI marketing specialist, will then provide a grain market outlook, and Jim Angel, state climatologist, will discuss the weather outlook.
After a complimentary lunch provided by Ford-Iroquois agribusiness Extension partners, Tricia Braid, communications director of the Illinois Corn Growers/Illinois Corn Marketing Board, will speak on “Illinois Farm Families and Social Media: Recruiting Urban Moms to the Cause.”
Darin Kennelly of Birkey’s Farm Stores will then discuss “Stay on Track: Troubleshooting Your Ag Electronics.”
The final speaker will be Adam Moritz presenting a “One Earth Energy Update.”
An alternative program for spouses and other interested individuals will be offered beginning at 9:15 a.m. “Spring into Wellness” will be presented by University of Illinois Extension educators.
