Iroquois County Fair set for July 17-22

CRESCENT CITY — The Iroquois County Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, through Monday, July 22, at the fairgrounds north of Crescent City.

Events on July 17 include the fair queen pageant, featuring five contestants, at 8 p.m. at the grandstand. Other events that day include a flag raising and presentation by 4-H clubs at 7:45 p.m.

Tiger Talks — a free show that displays the bond that has formed between tigers and their trainer — are scheduled for July 17, at 5 and 7 p.m.; July 18, at 2, 5 and 7 p.m.; July 19, at 2, 5 and 7 p.m.; July 20, at 2, 5 and 7 p.m.; and July 21, at 2 and 5 p.m.

Events on Thursday, July 18, include the 4-H and junior horse and pony show (halter classes) at 9 a.m.; fun and games at the grandstand at 1 p.m.; a dog obedience show at 2 p.m.; and the demolition derby at 7:30 p.m.

Events on Friday, July 19, include the draft horse show (halter classes) at 9 a.m.; the 4-H and junior horse and pony show (riding classes) at 9 a.m.; the 4-H Clothing Revue at 1:30 p.m.; draft horse hitches at noon; a talent show starting at 6:30 p.m. in the 4-H Center; and the C-Bar Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. at the grandstand.

Events on Saturday, July 20, include the western horse and pony show (gaming classes) at 9 a.m.; the annual tractor ride at 11:30 a.m.; an appearance by Ronald McDonald at 1 p.m.; a food auction at 3 p.m. in the 4-H Center; costume goat lead at 4 p.m. in the showbarn; dog agility judging and demonstration from 6-8 p.m. in the showbarn; the “Circle 8” demolition derby at 7:30 p.m. at the grandstand; and a dance from 8-11 p.m. at the 4-H Center.

Events on Sunday, July 21, include a western horse and pony show (pleasure classes) at 9 a.m.; an all-faith church service featuring music by A Natural High at 9:30 a.m. in the 4-H Center; a tractor pull at 12:30 p.m. at the grandstand; the Ford-Iroquois Pork Cook-Off Contest from 1-4 p.m.; open-class style show at 2 p.m. at the 4-H Center; costume sheep lead at 4 p.m. at the showbarn; the master showman contest at 5 p .m. west of the horse barn; the Illiana Tractor Pullers Association tractor and semi pull at 5:30 p.m. at the grandstand; and a teen dance from 8-11 p.m. in the 4-H Center.

Events on Monday, July 22, include announcements, awards and introductions at 1:15 p.m. at the sale barn; and the 4-H and FFA livestock sale at 1:30 p.m.
