Park district offering classes on water aerobics, art, first aid/CPR

PAXTON — The public is being reminded that water aerobics classes are offered at the Paxton Park District’s swimming pool each Monday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. throughout the summer. Advance registration is not required. There is a $5 fee, payable at the door. Each class lasts about an hour.

Art classes offered
The park district is also offering an art class for adults and children 12 or older. The twice-weekly evening class is instructed by Wanda Coady, a well-known local artist whose work is on display throughout the nation. Sessions will be held July 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30 from 7-9 p.m. at the Paxton Civic Center, 601 S. Fall St. The cost is $50. Participants will work with water-based mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, or collage, but not oil. Participants must bring their own supplies.  A list of supplied is available at  Registration is due July 12 and can be made by calling 379-4203 or Coady at 379-3343. 
The annual Ford County Town & Country Art Show is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the Civic Center.

First aid/CPR class offered
People can get first aid, CPR and AED certified, or update their expired certification at a class offered Aug. 10 at the Civic Center. The first aid portion begins at 10 a.m., while the CPR and AED session begins at 12:15 p.m. There is a registration fee of $20 per class, or $30 total if taking both classes.  Registration is accepted through Aug. 7 and can be done by calling 379-4203.
