GIBSON CITY — The Gibson City Police Department is hosting a competitive shooting event at the city’s range on Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The event is open to the public.

Police Chief Steve Cushman said there will be four events  — a 50-round combat course, “slice the playing card” event, “shooter’s golf” and a 50-yard long shot contest.

Each event will feature three skill categories: marksman, sharpshooter and expert.

The police department’s gunrange is located by the city’s sewage plant at the west junction of Illinois routes 47, 9 and 54.
