SPRINGFIELD — The 2012 fair queens of Ford and Iroquois counties will compete in the 54th annual Illinois Association of Agricultural Fair State Queen Pageant at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield on Thursday, Jan. 17, through Sunday, Jan. 20.
Miss Ford County 2012, Sara Diesburg of Paxton, and Miss Iroquois County 2012, Katie Roselius of Crescent City, will be competing with 70 other county fair queens for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen 2013.
The state pageant will include a personal interview, a prepared one-minute speech, and swimsuit and evening-gown competitions.
Personal interviews are conducted off stage on Friday. Diesburg will officially compete on stage in the Saturday afternoon preliminaries beginning at 1 p.m. in the Ruby/Diamond Room on the second floor of the Crowne Plaza. The preliminaries are open to the public.
Finals will then be held on Sunday beginning at 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Annual Banquet. Fifteen finalists will be chosen at that time to compete for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.
The title of Miss Illinois County Fair is currently held by Brittani Schisler of Lake County.
Diesburg is the 19-year-old daughter of Robert and Ann Diesburg of Paxton. She is a 2011 graduate of Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School. She is a sophomore at the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale majoring in interior design.
Roselius is the daughter of Tom and Deb Roselius of Crescent City. She is a 2009 graduate of Crescent-Iroquois High School and is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studying nursing.
