Help needed for Fourth of July celebration in Paxton

PAXTON — The Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce will start meeting in March to plan activities for this year’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration at Pells Park.

The chamber’s first meeting to plan activities for the celebration is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. March 8 at Pizza Hut in Paxton. Anyone interested in helping plan events is encouraged to attend.

Also, anyone who has ideas for the celebration or would like to help on a committee is asked to contact the chairman of the planning committee, Jake Pietkiewicz, at the First National Bank in Paxton at 379-2336.

“If you are not able to make a large commitment of time, there are many small jobs that need to be done, such as helping to put up decorations, taking down chairs after the celebration, children’s games, the soda stand, serving food at the chamber food tent, etc.,” a news release from the chamber said. “If you are able to donate an hour of time or several hours, all would be greatly appreciated. There are endless possibilities for you to help in a small or large way, and it is a great way for everyone to be a part of a community activity.”

The chamber has sponsored the celebration each of the past 13.

Chamber members helping sponsor the celebration, as of Feb. 4, are: Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services, Tim’s Lawn Service & Snow Removal, First National Bank, Pizza Hut, S&P Rentals, Country Thyme Tea Room, Kirchner Building Centers, Paxton Veterinary Clinic, Casey’s General Store, Market Street Barber Shop, Vital Education & Supply Inc., Northwestern Mutual Financial Network (Tedd King), Baier Family Funeral Services LLC, Doug’s Compounding Pharmacy, Flavel J.
