Townwide garage sales this weekend. Paxton’s annual townwide garage sales are scheduled for Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8. Maps of the sales will be available at both Casey’s General Store locations in Paxton, as well as Village Pantry in Paxton, and at Each of the last several years, the townwide garage sales have featured more than 100 sales.

Dog park committee to host garage sale. The Paxton Dog Park Committee will host a garage sale June 7-8. The committee is in need of, and accepting, donated items to sell. Fly-In/Drive-In at airport Saturday. The Paxton Municipal Airport’s annual Fly-In/Drive-In and Open House is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The event, featuring static displays of airplanes and helicopters as well as free plane rides for children ages 8-17, is sponsored by the Paxton Airport Association and Expirimental Aircraft Assocation Chapter 30. The EAA Chapter 29 will provide Young Eagles flights for kids from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Paxton Emergency Response Service will serve a pancakes-and-sausage breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Porkchop sandwiches will also be available for purchase, starting at 11 a.m. Kettle popcorn will also be for sale. Donations to be collected at thrift shop. The Community Thrift Shop of Paxton will be open from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, to collect donations from the public. Assistance will be provided with carrying donated items up the stairs and to the shop. The thrift shop will be open that day from 10 a.m. to noon, as well. The thrift shop is located at 110 N. Market St., above Hudson Drug Shop.

Concert in Melvin. Chrissy Rigsby will perform at the Melvin Community Hall, 108 E. Main St., at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Rigsby will be joined by the Philo Country Opry, featuring Doug Rigsby on drums, Ed Clem on the base guitar, Darrel Cummings on the steel guitar, Mike Lathimon on the lead guitar and Andrew Hauersperger and Logan Kirby on vocals. Doors open at 6 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

Buckley, B-L Alumni reunion to take place in June. The Buckley and Buckley-Loda High School Alumni Reunion and Banquet will be held Saturday, June 8, at the 103 East in Buckley. A social hour will start at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Reservations were due May 31. Anyone with questions can contact the Buckley State Bank at 394-2531.

Movie Night sponsored by tea party. The Iroquois County Tea Party is sponsoring a Movie Night at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Agape Fellowship Church in Watseka. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The PG-rated featured movie is “Generation Zero,” which explores the cultural roots of the global financial meltdown.  There is an admission fee for persons over age 12. Picnic at St. Paul’s in Woodworth. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Woodworth is holding its annual picnic on Sunday, June 9, starting with an outdoor worship service at 9 a.m. in the park. A parade begins at 1 p.m. Entries may be made on the west side of the church starting at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the picnic. The parade will be followed by a program presented by the students of St. Paul’s Lutheran School in the air-conditioned gym. Afterward, there will be games and activities for kids. An evening program will begin at 5:30 to conclude the activities. A food stand featuring hamburgers, porkburgers, hotdogs, snacks, drinks, ice cream and homemade pie will be open at 11:30 a.m. and continue to serve throughout the day. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is located at 113 W. Woodworth Road, Milford.

Extension to host open house for Chandler. An open house honoring Aimee Chandler for her 11 years of service to the University of Illinois Extension will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Ford-Iroquois Extension Office, 912 W. Seminary Ave., Onarga. Chandler is leaving the Extension to pursue a teaching career.

Foodgiveaway coming to Gibson City church. The Eastern Illinois Foodbank will have a mobile food pantry available at the Gibson City Bible Church, 309 N. Illinois 47, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15. The food pantry is open to Ford County households meeting income-eligibility guidelines.

Diabetes support group to meet. A diabetes support group meeting is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the radiology waiting room at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City. The program, “Spice Up Your Meals! (and shake the salt habit!),” will be presented by Margery Ruch, a dietician at the hospital. For more information, call 784-4093.

EIEC annual meeting set. Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting of members is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, at the PBL Junior/Senior High School complex at 700 W. Orleans St., Paxton. Registration begins at 3 p.m. with a catered meal served from 4-7 p.m. The business meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Bellflower Opry sets next show. The Bellflower Country Opry’s next country music show is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, featuring Janet Durham, who, with her husband, Chris, own the Prime Time Opry.  The show will be held in the gymnasium of the Bellflower Community Center.
