'Pie Ladies' to be performed this weekend at Market Street Theatre

PAXTON — The Tri-County Players will present “Pie Ladies,” a three-part comedy spoof, on Oct. 3-5 at the Market Street Theatre, 120 N. Market St., Paxton.

Shows start at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

“Pie Ladies,” by Sherry Piros, is a three-part comedy spoof in which women pick up their rolling pins to make dozens of pies for a church supper. But as they busily bake the pies, they decide to create their own country.

The Pie Ladies land in jail because they didn’t take kindly to their neighbors trying to take down the flag of their new country. They are bailed out but now owe a lot of money. They put their heads together to find a way to pay off the debt, and the comedy continues.

The Pie Ladies’ adventures take a turn as they realize success. They’re headed for a dream vacation cruise, thanks to their ingenious idea. Of course, there are the usual outlandish glitches that are always good for a laugh.

Cast members include Tri-County Players veterans Tammy Belanger, Sherry Janowski, Anne Newman, Phillip Duling and Tom Janowski, with the voices of Terra Nicole Hendrix and Pam Herriott. New to the stage are Tammy Ross, Tina Leffler, Sherilyn McIntyre, Christine Crosby and Jake Pietkiewicz. “Pies Ladies” is directed by Tom Janowski.

Tickets cost $12 and include a taste of the ladies’ pie. For reservations call the theater at 379-7028. Discounts for groups of 10 or more are available.
