PAXTON — Sav-Mor Pharmacy is closing Saturday after 31 years in business in downtown Paxton, and its customers’ accounts will all be transferred to another independently owned local pharmacy to provide a “seamless transition,” the company’s president said.
Dave Falk, president of Decatur-based Sav-Mor Pharmacies, said the Paxton store will close at 2 p.m. Saturday and that starting Monday, anyone who had an account at Sav-Mor, 138 N. Market St., will need to go to Hudson Drug & Hallmark Shop, 108 N. Market St., to get prescriptions or refills.
“We’re working with Hudson’s right now to get our (customers’) data converted, so after we close it will be really simple and a smooth transition,” Falk said.
“Nobody’s going to have to get new prescriptions (at Hudson Drug),” Falk noted. “The only difference there should be is just going to a different pharmacy. Everything is going to be on file with Hudson’s.”
Andy Hudson, owner of Hudson Drug, confirmed his business has agreed to take over the accounts of all Sav-Mor pharmacy clients. Hudson said his store will have access to Sav-Mor’s computer system “for a few months” while a data-conversion company converts the insurance profiles and medication histories of Sav-Mor’s clients to Hudson Drug’s system. Hudson said he will be notifying doctors of the change.
Both Falk and Hudson said plans are under way to notify all Sav-Mor customers of the closure through the mailing of postcards to each client’s address.
“We appreciate their patronage through the years and all of their support, and we’re diligently trying to do this as seamless as possible so they have no interruption in their service,” Falk said.
Starting next week, Sav-Mor’s telephone line (379-4855) will be “rolled over” into Hudson Drug’s phone line (379-4858), Falk said.
