PAXTON — Rhonda Wisenbarn, owner of The Laundry Barn in Paxton, was named the winner of the monthly Extra Mile Award for January sponsored by the Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Wisenbarn was nominated by Brenda Vinson and Hector Reyes, on behalf of the staff of the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
“On Friday, Dec. 14, Illinois Knights Templar Home had a broken water pipe, which gave limited access to water,” their nomination letter reads. “Well, as they say, ‘Laundry waits for no one.’ Our team of laundry staff gathered up over 800 pounds of clothing and bedding and headed up to The Laundry Barn. When they arrived, they were greeted with a smile by Rhonda.
“Rhonda met our staff at the door like they had a handful of items to wash. She began starting washers, transferred clothes to dryers and then helped fold. This made everything run so smoothly, and the job was finished quickly and efficiently. Everything was done in no time. To quote our employees, ‘She did it all! She was great!’
“Paxton is fortunate to have such a caring and sharing person in Rhonda, and self-service is not in her vocabulary. Thank you, Rhonda; you went more than the extra mile.”
The Extra Mile Award program awards $25 in Chamber Bucks to the winner and a floral arrangement from The Flower Cart to the nominator.
Nomination letters can be mailed to the Extra Mile Award chairman, Don Rasmus, at the First National Bank (attn: Don Rasmus), P.O. Box 95, 106 N. Market St., Paxton, IL 60957, or to the chamber office at P.O. Box 75, Paxton, IL 60957.
