Clerks card hard in Iroquois County

ASHKUM — Twenty businesses in Iroquois County refused to sell alcohol to a minor during a special sting operation on Nov. 28 by Illinois State Police Zone 3 officers.

The Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) surveillance was done at various establishments in the county to determine which businesses may be selling alcoholic beverages to persons under 21.

Of the 20 locations surveyed in Watseka, Crescent City, Clifton, Ashkum, Gilman and Onarga, none of the businesses were involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor, according to a news release from state police.
