Paxton Police Blotter (Feb. 1, 2012)

PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:

Arrests
— James M. Sharp, 26, of 462 S. Cherry St., was arrested for possession of cannabis (30 grams or under) and possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation in the 100 block of South Railroad Avenue at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 27.

— Troy S. Taulbee, 38, of 12 Weaver Trailer Court, and his wife, Melissa Thiel, 44, were both arrested for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after officers went to their home to serve an arrest warrant at 9:43 p.m. Jan. 27. Taulbee was wanted on a child support warrant out of Piatt County. When officers were speaking with the couple, they could smell a strong odor of cannabis. They then located 7.9 grams of cannabis, 3.5 grams of hash and drug paraphernalia in the home.

— Jerome S. Burkes, 20, of Paxton, was arrested for driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop at 6:05 a.m. Jan. 23 near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Green Street. Burkes was also ticketed for speeding (72 mph in a 55-mph zone). The vehicle he was driving was seized.

— Veerardo Rodriguez-Perez, 27, of Gilman, was arrested for driving without a valid license during a traffic stop at 4:36 a.m. Jan. 23 at the intersection of Vermilion and Spruce streets. The vehicle he was driving was seized.

— Blanca Silva, 37, of Rantoul, was arrested for driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop at 6:37 a.m. Jan. 24 on U.S. 45, just north of Ford County Road 500 North. The vehicle Silva was driving was seized.

Notices to appear
— Allison M. Habied, 27, of 426 W. State St., was issued a notice to appear on Jan. 11 for allowing two dogs to run at large.

— Kenneth J. White, 41, of 350 W. Spruce St., was issued a notice to appear on Jan. 5 for allowing furniture to accumulate on his property outside his residence.

— Jeffrey A. Forbes, 45, of 123 W. Pine St., was issued a notice to appear on Jan. 29 for allowing trash and debris to accumulate on his property.

— Brittney Rutledge, 21, of 800 S. Vermilion St., Apt. 1E, was issued a notice to appear on Jan. 29 for allowing trash and debris to accumulate.

— Robert Chackon, 65, of 404 S. Market St., was issued a notice to appear on Jan. 29 for allowing trash and building materials to accumulate on his property.

Traffic tickets
— Brian A. Stipp, 32, of Chicago, was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 4:25 p.m. Jan. 28 at the intersection of Center and Market streets.

— Roselio Tufiro, 38, of Paxton, was ticketed for a child safety seat violation during a traffic stop at 4:10 p.m. Jan.8 at the intersection of Union and Fulton streets.

— George D. Fontenot, 34, of Pasadena, Texas, was ticketed for no valid driver’s license and for improper lane usage during a traffic stop at 10:50 p.m. Jan.4 in the 600 block of West Center Street.

— A 16-year-old male from Paxton was ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection following an accident at 7:24 a.m. Jan. 6 at the intersection of Center and Elm streets.

— Rita L. Sparks, 43, of Paxton, was ticketed for expired registration and no insurance during a traffic stop at 12:52 a.m. Jan. 11.

— Brad A. Cannon, 27, of Urbana, was ticketed for improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol during a traffic stop at 9:55 p.m. Jan. 11 at the intersection of Pells and Spring streets.

— Zachary T. Borenstein, 21, of Buffalo Grove, was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign during a traffic stop at 5:10 p.m. Jan. 13 at the intersection of Ottawa Road and Baltimore Drive.

— Lauren R. Elam, 18, of Champaign, was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 3:59 a.m. Jan. 17 at the intersection of Washington and Summer streets.

— Evan E. Scott, 23, of Chicago, was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign during a traffic stop at 8:39 p.m. on Ottawa Road near the Interstate 57 interchange.

— James A. Hannagan, 44, of Gifford, was ticketed for speeding (48 mph in a 30-mph zone) during a traffic stop at 5:51 a.m. Jan. 24 at the intersection of Stockholm Road and Summer Street.

— Matthew F. Deibert, 38, of Rantoul, was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign during a traffic stop at 8:54 p.m. Jan. 24 at the intersection of Market and Patton streets.

— Darin S. McCall, 46, of Gifford, was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 3:31 a.m. Jan. 25 at the intersection of Summer and Vermilion streets.

Complaints
— The theft of $47 in fuel was reported at the Marathon gas station, 1080 W. Ottawa Road, at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 27. The theft occurred Friday, when a black man driving a gray 4-by-4 pickup truck left the station after pumping $46.80 in fuel. The vehicle went south on Interstate 57. There was no further description available of the suspect or the vehicle.

Traffic accidents
— No tickets were issued and no injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident at 1:32 p.m. Jan. 21 at the intersection of Patton Street and Railroad Avenue. The accident happened when a 2007 Kia Optima driven by Belinda R. Childs, 58, of Rantoul, bumped the rear of a vehicle driven by John R. Sandford, 68, of Loda, while Sandford’s vehicle was sitting at a stop sign at the intersection. The accident caused more than $1,500 in damage.

— A hit-and-run accident was reported at 12:30 p.m. Jan.5 in the 200 block of West Pells Street. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala owned by Shannon L. Tardiff was parked in front of her residence at 227 W. Pells St. when an unknown vehicle struck the driver’s side front corner of the car. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Paxton police at 379-4315 or Ford County Crimestoppers at 784-4173.

— A hit-and-run accident was reported at Jan. 9 in the 400 block of West Pells Street. A 2003 Dodge van owned by Amy L. Barradas, of 404 E. Ottawa Road, was parked in front of a church at 407 W. Pells St. between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 when an unknown vehicle struck it, leaving white paint transfer. Damage was estimated at more than $1,500.
