Firefighters respond to report of smoke at Just Hamburgers

PAXTON — Paxton firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a local business Friday morning.

The Paxton Fire Protection District responded to a call about 9:15 a.m. from Just Hamburgers, 214 E. Ottawa Road, said Fire Chief Denny Kingren.

Kingren said it appears electrical wiring in the ice machine in the business started smoking due to “an electrical failure.”

No damage to the building or injuries were reported.

An estimated 12 volunteer firefighters responded with two firetrucks, staying on scene about 20 minutes, Kingren said.

Also responding were the Paxton Police Department, Ford County Sheriff’s Department and Paxton Emergency Response Service.
