PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:
Traffic accidents
— No tickets were issued and no injuries were reported when a semi-trailer struck a post in the parking lot of Family Dollar, 100 W. Ottawa Road, around 4:50 p.m. Feb. 17. The accident occurred when Thomas R. Alberico, 53, of Wilmington, was driving a 2012 Volvo semi-trailer owned by Werner Enterprise Inc., based in Omaha, Neb., and the vehicle struck a pole owned by Family Dollar. A wrecker out of Champaign was called to get the trailer moved off of the pole. Damage estimates were not known.
Complaints
— Three license plates were reported stolen on Feb. 19 from the Paxton Gas & Towing, 1080 W. Ottawa Road. The crime is believed to have occurred between Feb. 10 and Feb. 19. One plate was taken from a tow truck and had the Illinois license plate number of 35033TW; two dealer plates were also stolen, with plate numbers of DL5632C and DL5632D. Anyone who finds the plates is asked to call Paxton police at 217-379-4315.
Arrests
— Aaron D. Thamm, 22, of 562 S. Park St., was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and ticketed for expired registration during a traffic stop at 4:10 p.m. Feb. 18 at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Franklin Street. The vehicle he was driving was seized under city ordinance.
— James M. Sharp, 25, of 451 N. Vermilion St., was arrested on Feb. 16 for theft (over $300) in connection with a crime that occurred while he was manager of Bumper to Bumper, 109 S. Railroad Ave.
— Bryce E. Harris, 33, of 1243 N. Ford County Road 1600 East, rural Roberts, was arrested on Feb. 20 for three counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis (2.5 grams or under) and drug paraphernalia. Harris was arrested at his place of employment in Gibson City after Paxton police executed a search warrant at his home about 11:45 a.m. and recovered stolen property. Police had developed Harris as a suspect in a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred sometime between the evening of Feb. 19 and the early morning of Feb. 20. Police received two reports of vehicles being burglarized, with the first being reported at 5:49 a.m. Feb. 20. Harris was developed as a suspect after police recalled pulling over his vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Feb. 20, and noticed certain items in his vehicle. Police obtained a search warrant for his address, where they found stolen property and also found four guns. Harris was charged additionally with possession of firearms without a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.
Traffic tickets
— Sandra A. McBreairty, 41, of West Lafayette, Ind., was ticketed for speeding (44 mph in a 30-mph zone) during a traffic stop at 11:54 p.m. Feb. 19 at the intersection of Pells Street and Railroad Avenue.
— Lacy L. Lindholm, 25, of 355 E. Summer St., was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 17 at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Summer Street.
