Six taken to hospital after collision north of Watseka

WATSEKA — Six people were transported to a Watseka hospital for medical treatment following a two-vehicle collision Friday in Iroquois County.

The accident occurred on County Road 2200 East, south of 2100 North, in Middleport Township, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The release said a vehicle driven by Joshua Mitton, 30, of Martinton, began to skid on the ice-covered roadway, then entered the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a vehicle head-on driven by Rodney Bohlmann, 63, of Watseka.

Mitton and three juvenile passengers in his vehicle, along with Bohlmann and his passenger, were all transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Both vehicles sustained more than $1,500 in damage.

The accident remained under investigation Friday, the release said.
