Power outage caused by hit-and-run accident near Loda

LODA — A hit-and-run accident was reported to the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 5 at the intersection of county roads 100 North and 100 East, less than a mile southwest of Loda.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, an unknown vehicle, believed to possibly be a pickup truck, slid off the road immediately before the intersection and entered a ditch, where it struck a utility pole owned by Ameren Illinois.

The accident damaged the pole and caused a power outage for Ameren utility customers in the Loda area for several hours, according to Tuesday’s news release.
