ASHKUM — Illinois State Police Zone 3 agents conducted Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) surveillance at various establishments in Iroquois County on Jan. 23 to determine which businesses may be selling alcoholic beverages to minors.
A total of 24 locations were surveyed in Watseka, Crescent City, Clifton, Ashkum, Gilman, Onarga, Loda, Buckley, Cissna Park and Milford.
Three Watseka businesses and one Clifton business were involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
Issued notices to appear in court for unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, were Scotchmon’s West employee Martha J. Hamende, 49; Scotchmon’s East employee Dhara C. Thakore, 30; Quality Supermarket employee Josephine C. Chiarenza, 20; and Clifton IGA employee Ryan Heimberger, 19.
Onarga man arrested in Iroquois County. An Onarga man was arrested Thursday for driving with a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card. District 21 Illinois State Police arrested Jeffery A. Condon, 40, after stopping to check on a motorist at 9:06 a.m. Jan. 24 on Illinois 52 near Illinois 1 in Iroquois County. The trooper located a drug pipe on Condon as he was secured in the trooper’s vehicle. The trooper also located several live rounds of ammunition in the vehicle. Condon did not have a valid Illinois FOID card.
