School bus, truck collide at Paxton intersection

PAXTON — A school bus carrying Paxton-Buckley-Loda elementary students collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Taft and Orleans streets Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of the accident shortly after 3 p.m. One child in the bus complained of pain and was being evaluated; there appeared to be no serious injuries.

The bus was parked on Taft Street, while a pickup truck with damage to its rear bumper was parked at an angle on the curb and sidewalk on the south side of Orleans Street.

Responding were the Paxton Police Department, Gibson Area Ambulance Service, Paxton Fire Protection District and Paxton Emergency Response Service.

Oh my god, the Paxton intersection is a dangerous place as I've seen on especially if you're travelling at high speeds. I simply hope that the Paxton-Buckley-Loda elementary students would come out okay after being obviously shocked. Good to hear nothing serious happened.
