Rantoul High grad dies in accident east of Paxton

PAXTON -- A 23-year-old Urbana man died in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday, Nov. 28, east of Paxton.

District 21 Illinois State Police identified the deceased as Angel L. Paiz.

Mr. Paiz was driving west on Illinois 9 in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix around 12:17 p.m. when his car left the road and overturned several times, throwing him from the car, police said.

Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace pronounced Mr. Paiz dead at the scene at Illinois 9 and Ford County Road 2380 East.

The Rantoul Township High School basketball team said Mr. Paiz, who goes by “Leo,” was a former member of the program.

Mr. Paiz graduated from Rantoul Township High School. He was a staffing and recruitment manager for Express Services in Hoopeston. He loved to dance and play football. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.

A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Lux Memorial Chapel.
